Dark Side marauders were warriors who used the Force for their own violent purposes. Like Jedi Guardians, dark side marauders combined physical prowess with training in the Force.

Unlike Jedi, dark side marauders bent the Force to their own violent purposes. Without the mental disciplines and strict code of conduct the Jedi Order provided, these warriors become brutal, living weapons, delighting in inflicting pain and taking lives. The dark side marauder becomes an extension of the dark side of the Force in the same way that their weapons were an extension of their body.[1]
Marauders lived in a world where their destiny was entirely dependent on their mastery of their weapons and their strength in the Force. The dark side made their survival far more likely.
Marauders often lived for the joy of battle, the test of arms, and the tempering that only bloody conflict could provide—and they were not above taking pleasure in the spoils that victory provided. While the adrenaline rush of combat was a heady drug to them, the thrill of the dark side flowing through their veins was far more intoxicating. To feel that thrill again and again, marauders sought out any activity that let them wield the Force against an opponent.[1]
Dark side marauders could often be found acting as bodyguards, gladiators, mob enforcers, mercenaries, street thugs, professional soldiers, or simply adventuring. They combined the best aspects of the soldier and the Jedi Guardian, mixing a well rounded complement of fighting tools with the ability to wield the Force. The weapons they chose were many and varied. Without a regular tradition, their techniques are just as diverse.[1]
