The Darkwalker Cave was a cave located on the Mid Rim world of Naboo. Located a relatively short distance east of the city of Theed, the cave was under the control of a criminal organization known as the Darkwalkers.[1]

History[]

Among the cave's occupants included important Darkwalker leaders, including Bloodlord Marcus Gaw, Underlord Critolus Masse, and an aegis guard by the name of Solon Gaw. Sometime following the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY, the Darkwalkers captured Karl Eckener and held him hostage within a holding cell inside the cave.[2]

In 1 ABY,[4] Sergeant Bragg and the RSF Intelligence Division investigated the cave while searching for the responsibles of a terrorist attack in Theed.[1] In the meantime, the cave was attacked by Skaak Tipper spacers led by Toff Henrou.[3]

Karl Eckener was eventually freed by a Royal Naboo Security Forces agent working for Hugo Eckener. Marcus Gaw, Critolus Masse and Solon Gaw were killed during the assault.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

The Darkwalker Cave was a location in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[5] The Darkwalker Cave was added to the game as part of the "Legacy Quest",[1] released with the "Publish 25", a.k.a. the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.[6]

  4. According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
