Darth Mortis was a Human male Dark Lord of the Sith of the resurgent Sith Empire and one of the members of the Dark Council during the Cold War. He killed Darth Thanaton after the latter was defeated by the Sith Lord Kallig. He appeared to be truly sorry for Thanaton and apologized before killing him.

Behind the Scenes

Darth Mortis bears a certain resemblance to Duncan from Dragon Age: Origins, a game developed by Bioware, who also developed The Old Republic. Both are members of a martial order and both apologize before killing a member of their own order.
