Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith 7: The Dying Light, Part I is the seventh issue of the comic book series Star Wars: Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith. It was written by Charles Soule, illustrated by Giuseppe Camuncoli, and published on November 1, 2017 by Marvel Comics.

Publisher's summaryEdit

LEGACY'S END BEGINS! As Vader takes his place in command of the Emperor's secret Inquisitorius Program, he sets his sights on one of the most dangerous Jedi remaining alive…and it's not who you'd expect.[1]

Plot summaryEdit

THE DYING LIGHT
Part I
The fledgling Empire has only just begun across the
galaxy. As Emperor Palpatine firms up his grip on the
reins of rulership, it falls to those under him to make
sure the transition goes smoothly.

Lord Darth Vader, Palpatine's Sith apprentice,
struggles to come into his own in this new Empire.
Formerly a Jedi Knight known as Anakin Skywalker,
Vader betrayed the Jedi Order and took the lead in
their slaughter.

Now, Vader has been put in charge of the Inquisitorius,
a group of former Jedi fallen to the dark side. Their
mission: continue what Vader began and wipe out the
remaining Jedi who have thus far evaded capture....

ContinuityEdit

The issue includes an Aurebesh list of presumed Order 66 survivors, although two of the names are obscured by text bubbles. The comic's assistant editor, Heather Antos, posted an unlettered copy of the list to Twitter, revealing the names to be "Naia Taver" and "Kule Xandar."[2] In follow-up tweets, Lucasfilm Story Group member Matt Martin stated that the covered names, as well as the name "Kayce Beradun," were simply Easter eggs and not meant to be interpreted literally.[3] The name Kule Xandar was coined as a reference to the planet Xandar from the film Guardians of the Galaxy.[4]

  3. TwitterLogo @missingwords (Matt Martin) on Twitter "Before you guys go too nuts, the last two are Easter eggs (that's why they were covered). Bonus points if you can guess what they represent."
TwitterLogo @missingwords (Matt Martin) on Twitter "Oh yeah, the top one too. Basically, I'm just saying if there's a name you don't recognize it's because it's made up. Don't go off and make a crazy @WookOfficial entry or conspiracy video about how Kule Xandar is a certain mysterious character from the sequel trilogy."
