It was written by Charles Soule and released on November 1, 2017.[3]

Publisher's summary

LEGACY'S END BEGINS!

As Vader takes his place in command of the Emperor's secret Inquisitorius Program, he sets his sights on one of the most dangerous Jedi remaining alive…and it's not who you'd expect.[3]

Plot summary

THE DYING LIGHT
Part I
The fledgling Empire has only just begun across the
galaxy. As Emperor Palpatine firms up his grip on the
reins of rulership, it falls to those under him to make
sure the transition goes smoothly.

Lord Darth Vader, Palpatine's Sith apprentice,
struggles to come into his own in this new Empire.
Formerly a Jedi Knight known as Anakin Skywalker,
Vader betrayed the Jedi Order and took the lead in
their slaughter.

Now, Vader has been put in charge of the Inquisitorious,
a group of former Jedi fallen to the dark side. Their
mission: continue what Vader began and wipe out the
remaining Jedi who have thus far evaded capture...[2]

Behind the scenes

The issue includes a hologram listing of presumed Order 66 survivors which was shown in full when Heather Antos presented the unlettered page on her Twitter feed.[4] In follow-up tweets, Lucasfilm Story Group member Matt Martin stated that the first name, "Kayce Beradun", and the last two, "Naia Taber" and "Kule Xandar", were in fact easter eggs not intended to be taken at face value and, as such, were obscured in the finished comic.[5]

Kule Xandar was named so because a member who worked on the comic thought that the planet Xandar from the Marvel Entertainment series Guardians of the Galaxy was "cool".[6]
