Darth Vurik was a male Sith Lord who served Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Krayt's One Sith order during the Second Imperial Civil War. In 132 ABY, Vurik was dispatched to the planet Nyriaan by Krayt to investigate rumors of the existence of the Sith Interdictor-class cruiser Dying Sun, which dated back to the Jedi Civil War. After arriving on Nyriaan and locating a Sith settlement, Vurik was attacked by the Sith worshipers of Darth Glovoc, a Sith Lord who was in stasis and encased in an oubliette. During his pursuit of Glovoc's oubliette, Vurik slew many of these Sith before eventually being confronted by a group of fugitive Jedi. Despite wounding several and slaying one of the Jedi, Vurik retreated from battle to the capital of Nyriaan, Locus. Failing to apprehend Glovoc's oubliette, Vurik elected to hire bounty hunters to hunt down the Jedi on Nyriaan as he continued his search for Glovoc, whose subjects had hidden him in a secret location.

Biography

Nyriaan-goi

Vurik was dispatched to Nyriaan to search for the Dying Sun.

Darth Vurik, a male, served the One Sith order of the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Krayt as a Sith Lord during the Second Imperial Civil War.[1] Shortly after Krayt deposed Emperor Roan Fel and set up his own Empire,[2] his Sith agents discovered rumors that the Interdictor-class cruiser Dying Sun, a Sith warship that operated during the Jedi Civil War[1]—an ancient conflict initiated by the Sith Lords Darth Revan and Darth Malak against the Galactic Republic and Jedi Council[3]—had crashed on the Mid Rim planet Nyriaan. In 132 ABY, Vurik was dispatched by Krayt to Nyriaan to investigate these rumors, hoping to find Sith artifacts such as Sith holocrons.[1]

After Vurik arrived on the planet, he began his investigations and eventually discovered a settlement of the descendants of the Sith survivors of the crash that occurred at the end of the Jedi Civil War. Vurik was attacked by these people who called themselves the "Children of the Tempest"—beings who were physically and mentally maligned by generations of inbreeding—hoping to defend the oubliette of the Sith Lord Darth Glovoc, the Dying Sun's captain and the Sith descendants' object of worship. Vurik slew many of the Sith who were attempting to defend Glovoc, who was comatose and held in stasis inside the oubliette.[1]

DarthGlovoc

Vurik was determined to apprehend Glovoc and his oubliette.

However, Vurik's actions were noticed by members of the local clans, who also were harboring some fugitive Jedi. Vurik was confronted by a group of several of these Jedi; during his confrontation with them, the Sith Lord injured many of the Jedi and killed at least one before he was defeated by them. This caused him to retreat to Locus, Nyriaan's capital. Despite this, Vurik injured many of the Jedi and killed at least one of them. During Vurik's battle with the Jedi, the Sith worshipers of Glovoc used the opportunity to move Glovoc's oubliette to a hidden location while Vurik was distracted. After the battle, Vurik was unwilling to report his failure to Darth Krayt. He chose to stay on Nyriaan and attempt to locate Glovoc, hiring bounty hunters to find and kill the Jedi who attacked him.[1]

Personality and traits

Darth Vurik was a male Sith Lord who, when confronted by both the Children of the Tempest and the Jedi on Nyriaan, was willing to engage both groups in battle. He was determined to apprehend Glovoc and his oubliette, and, when faced with reporting his failure to Darth Krayt, he chose to instead stay on Nyriaan and continue his search for Glovoc.[1]

Powers and abilities

As a Sith Lord in Darth Krayt's One Sith order, Vurik was sensitive to the Force. His fighting skills were enough to annihilate many of the members of the Children of the Tempest. His abilities enabled him to wound many of the Jedi who attacked him and kill at least one of them.[1]

Behind the scenes

Darth Vurik was introduced in the 2010 Wizards of the Coast resource book Galaxy of Intrigue, in which he functioned as one of the characters who affected the planet Nyriaan's history. Because he held the "Darth" title, this article refers to Vurik as a Sith Lord.
