"Han Solo, ha. If I'm around, you don't need that guy."
―Dash Rendar[1]

Dash Rendar was a male smuggler[1] and mercenary[2] who lived during the reign of the Galactic Empire. During his travels, he encountered the Wookiee Chewbacca and fellow smuggler Han Solo.[1] A hotshot[2] who claimed to be better than Solo, Rendar later claimed that it was Chewbacca who was the real brains behind their operation. Rendar also marked a map of the Kessel Run that was included in Midnight's journal.[1] He piloted a YT-2400 light freighter and worked for the Alliance to Restore the Republic.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

"I got lauded for "restoring" Dash in a Solo book. (And if that made you happy, I'm glad. Seriously!) But I was basically goofing on him as a Han clone...."
―Jason Fry[3]

Dash Rendar was first mentioned in Star Wars canon in the 2018 journal book Solo: A Star Wars Story: Tales from Vandor, written by Jason Fry.[1] Fry later revealed on Twitter that Rendar's inclusion in the book was a meant as a humorous nod to the character's reputation for being extremely similar to Han Solo.[3]

Dash Rendar was originally developed for the 1996 Star Wars Legends multimedia project Shadows of the Empire and first appeared in its novel.[4]
