"I stand here often, staring up at the stars, and all I can see is war. I feel it moving to envelope me though I've tried to avoid it.  If I remain on the side and do nothing, I know I will be destroyed for certain. My name is Dathnaeya Loessin."
―Dathnaeya Loessin, to a spacer[1]

Dathnaeya Loessin was a Human female who served as a member of the CorSec on Talus during the Galactic Civil War.

Biography[]

"A friend of mine, a fellow agent, has been facing a personal crisis. Due to my responsibilities with CorSec, I can not help her the same way you can. Her name is Dathnaeya Loessin. She works at the capital building in Dearic."
Agent Taarna, to a spacer[1]

Dathnaeya Loessin was a member of the Corellian Security Force. She was originally trained by Agent Taarna, a distinguished member of the CorSec who became a friend and mentor to Loessin. By the time of the Battle of Yavin, Dathnaeya Loessin was working in the Dearic Capitol and was considered as one of CorSec's most promising officers.[2]

As the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic grew ever more intense with the Battle of Restuss,[3] Dathnaeya Loessin believed she could no longer stand on the side without involving herself. However, she did not know which side to take. She discussed her trouble with Agent Taarna but the old man was not able to help her without harming his position in the CorSec.[2][4] In 1 ABY,[5] Taarna hired an independent spacer who already assisted him in the past in order to help Dathnaeya. In the meantime, the woman made an appointment to Captain Quellium and Colonel Ekirk, respectively Rebel and Imperial officers, both stationed in Dearic. Loessin then tasked the spacer to work with both officers in order to determine which faction was the most fair and rightful in that conflict.[4]

Rebel Captain Quellium requested the spacer to work with Trezya Nenei against the Nightstrike Soldier Hegemony, a group of mercenaries affiliated with the Empire.[6] On the other hand, Imperial Colonel Ekirk tasked the spacer to work for Galiir Ac Yandar against the Aggregate Civil Liberties Organization, a medical supply company allied with the Alliance.[7] Finally, the spacer made a detailed report to Dathnaeya Loessin who decided to join one of the factions in the Galactic Civil War.[4]

Behind the scenes[]

Dathnaeya Loessin appeared as a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[8] Dathnaeya Loessin was added to the game as part of the "Crisis of Allegiance" arc with the release of "Chapter 2: The Talus Incident," on August 1, 2006.[3]

  5. According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
