Following their occupation of the planet Dathomir in circa 12 ABY, the Imperial Remnant used a communications center to block all communications on the world, preventing the New Republic from learning of the invasion. The Dathomiri witches of the Dreaming River Clan attempted to infiltrate the communications center, but every infiltrator they sent was detected by the Nightsisters, dark side witches that were aiding the Imperials. A group of Jedi agents and the former Imperial Royal Guardsman Kir Kanos staged an attack on the facility, and the agents made their way to the buildings command center, where they confronted the Imperial officer General Vit and the rogue Jedi student Dal Konur.
