The Dead Ringer was the transport of smuggler captain Bioto. Cash Garrulan smuggled two refugees fleeing Murkhana aboard the Dead Ringer, simultaneously using the "stow-aways" as stand-ins for Olee Starstone and Roan Shryne and also setting up his rival Bioto for the fall. The Ringer was impounded by the Exactor when Darth Vader was attempting to intercept Starstone and Shryne as they fled Murkhana. Vader had Bioto, his crew, and the stowaways put in the brig.
