A sonic mine was an explosive device designed to infict damage and mildly stun it's target. The enemy would then be left off-balance for many seconds. After being set, the mine had a specific distance radius, that when disturbed, would trigger the mine. With the appropriate skills, it was possible to avoid, disable or recover this mine.

Sonic mines could also be deployed by starships.^[1]
