"Death Star Rising" was a song by the pro-Imperial musical group The Emperor's New Clothes. The song was featured on their album Artistic Integrity[1] and released within days after the Empire's destruction of the planet Alderaan.[2] Like all of The Emperor's New Clothes' music, "Death Star Rising" was approved by the Imperial Board of Culture.[1] The content and nature of the song led some observers to believe a closer relationship between The Emperor's New Clothes and the Galactic Empire.[2]

Behind the scenesEdit

"Death Star Rising" was one of the songs by The Emperor's New Clothes that were listed in the Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments from the Rim, a 1993 supplement to West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments from the Rim was written by Simon Smith and Eric S. Trautmann.[1] The song was later mentioned in the 2014 Star Wars Blog article "Slugthrowers: An Overview of Popular Music and Musicians in a Galaxy Far, Far Away," written by Edward M. Erdelac.[2]
