"What are those?"
"Coin-crabs. Reminds me of those happy days we spent frying Yuuzhan Vong."
Boba Fett and Goran Beviin[src]

Deep-fried coin-crabs were a type of seafood dish served at the Horizon Hotel bar on the Outer Rim world of Taris. Utilizing local coin-crabs,[2] a species of crustacean that was native to the Tarisian coastlines, the small, tasty crabs[1] were deep-fried and served to patrons in bowls.[2]

In the year 40 ABY, the veteran Mandalorian soldier Goran Beviin ordered a bowl of deep-fried coin-crabs while visiting the Horizon Hotel.[2] Beviin enjoyed the crabs' crunchiness, and likened the deep-fried crustaceans to the extra-galactic Yuuzhan Vong whom the Mandalorians had fought close to a decade prior, during the species' invasion of the galaxy.[2]

Behind the scenes

Deep-fried coin-crabs were first introduced to the Star Wars universe in the Legacy of the Force novel Bloodlines, written by author Karen Traviss and published August 29, 2006.[2]
