"This battle is inevitable. You can stand by your beliefs, but let us stand by ours."
―Anakin Skywalker, to Tee Watt Kaa[src]

A defense of Maridun occurred during the Clone Wars, when Confederate General Lok Durd attempted to test his Defoliator weapon on a civilian Lurmen village on Maridun.

When Jedi Master Aayla Secura's and Commander Bly's fleet came under attack by a Separatist fleet at Quell, she, Bly and several others were then rescued by Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, his apprentice Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex. However, Skywalker was wounded in the rescue and their frigate was damaged. The frigate then entered hyperspace, but were about to collide with a star. Fortunately, Tano was able to steer the ship away from the star, but they were forced to crash land on Maridun.[1]

Once there, they then looked for aid, which they found at a village of Lurmen pacifists. Despite concern from their leader, Tee Watt Kaa, they sheltered the Jedi and his son, Wag Too, was able to save Skywalker's life.[1]

The Separatist's arrivalEdit

Sometime later, a Separatist's landing ship came. At first, Tee Watt Kaa believed the separatists were coming for the Jedi. However, Tano assured him that the separatists did not know they were there. Tee Watt Kaa then went to speak with the Separatist commander, General Lok Durd. Durd proclaimed that the planet and the village were under Separatist's protection. Durd's battle droids then searched the village just as the Jedi and the clones fled the village. The battle droids found no weapons or Republic contraband. Durd told Tee Watt Kaa that he would conduct more searches for security reasons.[4]

The Jedi then decided to steal a ship from the Separatist's outpost. However, they were then spotted by one of their recon droids. Luckily, Bly jammed it's signal and Secura destroyed the droid. From a tree, Secura, Tano, Skywalker, Rex and Bly spotted the outpost. There they spotted Durd and his technician bringing out a new weapon capable of destroying organic lifeforms but sparing droids. He then picked two droids[4]

As Bly and Rex took a closer look at the weapon, Durd contacted Count Dooku. He informed the Count that he had found a world perfect for the testing of the Defoliator. Durd and Dooku watched as Zignat fired the Defoliator Deployment Tank at the two droids. As the shell came crashing down at the droids, Rex and Bly ran. Bly tripped but was then saved by Secura. The two droids survived impact, while everything living was burned. Dooku was impressed by the results. However, Dooku wanted Durd to test it on living being. Durd explained that the colonist would be their test subjects. Durd then moved his battle droids and tanks toward the village.[4]

Stealing a shuttleEdit

After Durd and his droids left, Skywalker and the others decided to take out the remaining droids at the outpost. Thus, Skywalker, Rex, and Bly distracted the droids outside while Secura and Tano infiltrated the outpost. Once inside and all the battle droids gone, they stole the shuttle and the shield generators and returned to the Lurmen's village. However, Tee Watt Kaa refused to allow them defend the village. Despite his objections, the Jedi and the clones erected a wall made of pods around the village.[4]

Defending the villageEdit

Durd then spotted the Jedi and clones building the wall as he approached. Durd then fired the defoliator. However, the shield generators were able to hold up against the defoliator's blast wave. Durd then sent in a squad to destroy the generators. However, the jedi and clones were able to destroy the first wave. Durd then sent in 2 squads, that overwhelmed the Jedi. Despite this, Skywalker decided to disable the weapon while Tano, Secura, Rex and Bly defended the village from the battle droids.[4]

However, the battle droids were overwhelming them. The colonists, despite Tee Watt Kaa's objections, decided to help the Jedi. Together, they were able to stop the droids. Skywalker then ran towards the AATs and the defoliator. He then destroyed the defoliator. Durd the then tried to run when the defoliator shell dropped, but was then captured by Skywalker, thus ending the battle.[4]

Wag Too then offered his thanks to the Jedi for their protection. As Durd and Zignat were being taken prisoner aboard the shuttle, the Resolute and two other cruisers arrived.[4]
