The defense of the Twi'lek corvette Karinne occurred above Ryloth early in the Galactic Civil War.
Prelude[]
At an early point[3] in the Galactic Civil War, a Twi'lek delegation left their homeworld,[1] Ryloth,[4] aboard the CR90 corvette Karinne, bound for a secret summit with the Rebel Alliance High Command. Learning of the negotiations from their spies, the Galactic Empire dispatched a small force consisting of the Imperial Star Destroyer Avenger and its TIE complement to ambush the neutral corvette. Discovering the impending ambush, Alliance Counter-Intelligence was able to send only a pair of BTL Y-wing starfighters from Red Squadron to the Twi'leks' aid in an ambush of their own.[1]
The battle[]
The Star Destroyer entered the system from hyperspace, staying long enough only to release three TIE/sa bombers each from Alpha, Beta, and Gamma Squadrons before departing.[1]
Taking the TIE pilots by surprise with an assault from behind, the Rebel pilots used their proton torpedoes to stop the Imperial attack, allowing the Karinne to escape.[1]
Aftermath[]
Grateful for their rescue, the Twi'lek delegation soon agreed to join the Rebel Alliance.[1]
The engagement was later simulated as a training mission by the Rebel Alliance, intended to teach prospective Y-wing pilots to use their proton torpedoes to protect allied ships from TIE bombers. Agamarian Rebel Keyan Farlander was assigned to the simulation by training officer Wex Dafid prior to Farlander's recruitment into the Alliance flagship Independence's Red Squadron.[5]

The battle first appeared in the 1993 video game Star Wars: X-Wing as the third Y-wing historical mission, "S.O.S. from Corvette Karinne."[1]
While X-Wing identifies the Twi'lek homeworld and site of the engagement as "Twi'lek",[1] it is more commonly known as Ryloth.[6]
