Design an Alien was a contest held by Star Wars Galaxy Magazine, allowing fans to submit backstories and artwork of original aliens and creatures to become canon.
The contest was announced in Star Wars Galaxy 3, and the winning entries were published in Star Wars Galaxy 7 with some additional honorable mentions being published in Star Wars Galaxy 8, Star Wars Galaxy 9, and Star Wars Galaxy 10.
Leland Chee has stated that the aliens published for this contest are canon, though any discrepancies with other sources would likely be superceded by the other source.[1]
