Detention Center A was a Galactic Empire prison on the planet Kessel. The camp consisted of five Imperial Fortresses and other military buildings. After the Empire lost the Battle of Endor, it was decided to abandon Kessel and the atmosphere factories were shut down. The slaves from Detention Center A were forced to keep working in the thinning air. Shortly after, a Wookiee army led by Chewbacca, Han Solo, Lando Calrissian, and Luke Skywalker arrived on Kessel and re-powered the atmosphere factories and liberated the slaves from Detention Center A, Detention Center B, and Detention Center C.

Behind the scenesEdit

Detention Center A was first mentioned in the strategy guide for the 2001 video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds. It appeared in the Chewbacca campaign's bonus mission. The player was tasked with re-powering the atmosphere factories, and may ignore the military buildings in Detention Center A, which is what the strategy guide recommends.
