Disney Interactive is the interactive entertainment wing of The Walt Disney Company. The company is in charge of producing Star Wars games on mobile and PC platforms, outside of the Electronic Arts game development contract.

History[]

On October 30, 2012, Lucasfilm was acquired by The Walt Disney Company.[1] Several months later, on April 3, 2013, LucasArts, Lucasfilm's video game division, saw its publishing and development offices closed, only retaining its licensing mission,[2] as Disney Interactive coordinated with Lucasfilm. On May 6, 2013, a new licensing strategy was unveiled, with Electronic Arts becoming the exclusive video game contractor for AAA Star Wars video games, while Disney Interactive would focus on "casual audiences".[3]

Development Studios[]

Disney Canada[]

Disney Canada, Inc. is primarily responsible for developing products for Disney's Club Penguin franchise. They have developed the Star Wars Takeover and Star Wars Rebels Takeover for the Club Penguin virtual world.

They partnered with Area 52 Games to create Star Wars: Attack Squadrons, before its cancellation in 2014. Disney Interactive Worlds is however developing other currently unannounced Star Wars games.[4]
