Diva

From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.

Divas were a religious order of female Theelin singers. Towards the last years of the Galactic Republic, most Theelin females were given the title of Diva, regardless of their vocal talents in order to preserve the culture of a dwindling population.

[edit] Behind the scenes

The name "diva" may be a pun on both the more common meaning of the word--a female opera singer--and the meaning of the original proto-Indo-European root *deiwos, from which this word came. From this root come the English word "divine," the Hindi word deva, referring to a deity, and the Avestan (ancient Persian) word daeva referring to a demon.

In Latin, diva simply means "goddess."
