"But the scan must be wrong. If the poison was in all our drinks, Lolo would have died too."
"What?"
"She's Rodian. She'd have been poisoned too. Unless she didn't drink. But you drank, right Lolo? …Lolo, you didn't drink, did you?"
―Senator Amidala discovers that Lolo Purs poisoned Senator Farr[2]

Domaine de la Maison sur le Lac was a brand of wine from Naboo. It was popular with members of the Galactic Senate of the Republic during the debate over a military budget bill early in the Clone Wars, consumed during meetings, small conferences, and celebrations. The wine became the focal point of an investigation into the death of Senator Onaconda Farr, as the Rodian politician was killed by poison that had been mixed into his serving of Domaine de la Maison sur le Lac.

Description[]

Domaine de la Maison sur le Lac was produced on the[1] Mid Rim[3] world of Naboo.[1] The purple-colored wine was sold in a tall, narrow bottle adorned with several stickers, the largest of which displayed the brand name and the phrase "Produce of Naboo"[1] in High Galactic alphabet,[4] as well as an artistic rendering of Varykino,[1] the Lake Country retreat of Naboo's House Naberrie.[5]

Senators Amidala, Farr and Mothma enjoying Domaine de la Maison sur le Lac

Around 21 BBY,[6] Senator Padmé Amidala, a member of the Naberrie family,[5] shared a bottle of Domaine de la Maison sur le Lac with fellow senators Onaconda Farr, Bail Prestor Organa, Mon Mothma, and Lolo Purs in celebration of her well-received address to the Galactic Senate of the Republic regarding proposed legislation that would reduce the Republic's military budget. Before the senators drank from the bottle, however, it was seized by intruding Kaminoan Senator Halle Burtoni. Farr ushered Burtoni out of the meeting, and the senators resumed their celebration and consumed the Domaine de la Maison sur le Lac. Unfortunately for the senators in the celebration, the wine had been mixed with a poison that was engineered on Kamino to be lethal exclusively to Rodians, a species to which Farr and Purs belonged. Farr died as a result of drinking the Domaine de la Maison sur le Lac, while Purs had elected not to consume the beverage, and so survived.[2]

Burtoni and her colleague, the Umbaran Senator Mee Deechi, also enjoyed a bottle of Domaine de la Maison sur le Lac during a meeting in Deechi's office. Burtoni was initially accused of poisoning Farr's wine when she seized his bottle, due to her opposition to the Rodian and the origin of the poison. However, it was later revealed that Senator Purs was the culprit—a fact that was only discovered when Amidala realized the younger Rodian had chosen not to drink from the Domaine de la Maison sur le Lac.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Domaine de la Maison sur le Lac was first seen in "Senate Murders," the fifteenth episode of the second season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series. While the brand name on the bottle of the wine consumed in the episode is too small to see on-screen, the name Domaine de la Maison sur le Lac was revealed in the trivia section of "Senate Murder"'s online episode guide. Translated to French, Domaine de la Maison sur le Lac means "Domain of the House on the Lake."[7]
