[edit] Biography
Ten months after the Battle of Geonosis, he was assigned to guard Techno Union Foreman Wat Tambor's C-B3 cortosis battle droid factory on the planet Metalorn, and was killed trying to defend it from Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker.[1] Later in the war, Skywalker killed another clone of Dooku on Serenno.[2]
[edit] Behind the scenes
The nature of Count Dooku's doppelgänger is unknown. One possibility is that this copy of Dooku was a mystical doppelgänger that the real Count had conjured through the Force. One piece of evidence that supports this theory is that after Skywalker killed him, his body simply vanished, as would be expected of a non-physical being created through the Force. On the other hand, it is also possible that Dooku's twin may have simply been a traditional, biologically-made clone of Dooku that was grown at an especially rapid rate so that he would be the same age as the real Count. There is evidence for this possibility as well, since the real Dooku himself referred to his copy as a clone, and while this may have been a figurative use of the term, the real Dooku also did not know that his twin had been defeated until he was informed of the events that happened on Metalorn, whereas had the copy been a Force doppelgänger the real Dooku would have no doubt sensed his clone's defeat instantly.
All of the other movie Sith Lords have been in some way copied in the Expanded Universe as well. Dooku's predecessor, Darth Maul, rose again in Resurrection; Darth Vader was cloned in Galaxy of Fear: Clones; and, naturally, Palpatine's spirit inhabited clone bodies of himself in Dark Empire. Interestingly, Anakin Skywalker defeated the clones of Dooku, Maul, and himself.
Abel G. Peña has stated a preference for the Force doppelgänger explanation, believing that clones have been overused as an explanation for inconsistent deaths.[3]
