Droid armor was the name given to the type of plating installed on droids for the purpose of protection from elements such as heat, cold and physical stress. These barriers, depending on the price a droid owner was prepared to pay, were composed of many different types of materials such as metal alloys, durasteel, or bronzium. There were several varieties of armor available, for example: Impact armor, which was designed to help absorb some of the wear and tear droids could have experienced in an active workplace or Modular plating, which was designed as a lightweight yet durable substitute for heavier, more cumbersome armor.
