The Duel in the Royal Hangar was a duel 40 ABY between Jedi Knights Tahiri Veila and Leia Organa Solo that took place in the Royal Hangar on Hapes.

Prelude

Leia and her husband Han had come to Hapes to persuade Queen Mother Tenel Ka to withdraw her fleets from the Galactic Alliance Defense Fleet, join the Jedi, and turn her fleets against Colonel Jacen Solo who was burning the Wookiee world Kashyyyk for harboring the Jedi. Unbeknownst to them, Tahiri Veila (Jacen Solo's spy within the Jedi), had followed them in her StealthX, to prevent them from pleading their case to the Queen Mother.
After the Solos had landed in the hangar, the Hapan Royal Space Marines welcomed them and their escort to the planet. When Tahiri said her objective was to detain the Solos for the Colonel and that she was only doing what Anakin Solo, her lost love and Jacen's dead brother, would have done, Leia Solo flew into a rage. Muttering various things about her dead son not supporting torture and coups, and also distraught at what she believed was Luke's death, Leia Solo lit her lightsaber, and Tahiri did the same.

Ignoring the Marines ordering them to drop their weapons, the two women engaged. Landing various physical blows as well as lightsaber, the duel continued even though the marines opened fire with stun bolts. The Jedi easily deflected the bolts and Tahiri flung one of the (now unconscious) troopers' blasters at Leia's back.
Leia flipped over and brought her blade around level with Tahiri's neck, but Han shouted "No!" and Tahiri blocked the attack. Realizing that Leia intended to make Tahiri pay for Luke's death and Jacen's turn to the dark side, Han jumped up and grabbed Leia, preventing her from killing Tahiri, though he took some blows when Leia defended herself.
As Tahiri continued to advance, Tenel Ka and her guard arrived and demanded that Tahiri desist. The duel ended with no loss of life on either side.
AftermathEdit
When Tenel Ka found out about Luke's supposed death, she gave her sympathies to the Solos. When Tahiri demanded that the Solos be turned over to Alliance custody, as there still was an arrest warrant on them, Tenel Ka reminded Tahiri that the Solos had safe haven in the Consortium, and that the Queen Mother governed there; not the Alliance, not Colonel Solo, and definitely not Tahiri.
Tenel Ka had Major Moreem Espara disarm Tahiri and supply her with a messenger skiff, to be returned to Jacen Solo with the Consortium's apologies for any inconvenience. Han and Leia would persuade Tenel Ka to turn her fleets against Jacen at Kashyyyk, and the Battle of Kashyyyk would be a loss for Colonel Solo's GA.[1]
Tahiri's StealthX would later be used by Darth Caedus as an escape vehicle when he captured the Chume'da Allana.[2]
