Around 3643 BBY, at Korriban, the Acolyte succeeded in his last assignment and eventually became Lord Zash's apprentice. Zash then assigned him to meet her on the planet of Dromund Kaas, the Empire's capital. While travelling to Korriban's Spaceport, the now-apprentice was intercepted by Darth Skotia's apprentice, Ortosin, who under his Master's orders, was to warn the Apprentice not to travel to Dromund Kaas. The Apprentice mocked him, ignoring the warning, and was engaged in combat by Ortosin, eventually killing him and the the two thugs he brought with.
