The dune bantha was a subspecies of bantha which originated on Tatooine. It was rangier, less furry and more slender than the common bantha used by the Tusken Raiders as mounts. The dune bantha lived in the equatorial regions of Tatooine and could survive very high temperatures and relatively little water.
