The duneclaw, also known as a guuria, was a non-sentient beast native to the planet Tatooine. It was rarely seen on the planet's deserts, this because it preferred to hunt near Tatooine’s cliffside caves and other dark, enclosed spaces, thanks to its ability to navigate in dim light through echolocation and also to receive sound waves made by other creatures.
Although its appearance reminded a manka cat, the duneclaw was much different from the Alderaanian feline: it was an omnivorous, reptilian and solitary creature. It was also supposed that it was a distant cousin of the wraid.
The duneclaw had a very tough skin that was covered with armor-like plates, and a thick skull that could shatter human's bones and crack stone only with a simple head-butt.
Behind the scenesEdit
The duneclaw first appeared in the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, released by BioWare in 2011. However, duneclaws on Tatooine used the manka cat character model; it was not until the release of the Rise of the Hutt Cartel Digital Expansion that the correct model was added to the game for a type of creature called a "Guuria" on Makeb. The later Flashpoint Czerka Core Meltdown clarified the discrepancy by applying the Guuria model to an "Enhanced Duneclaw" enemy.
