Duraplast

Duraplast was a metal used during production of durable equipment. It was much stronger than many other metals and was thus widely used throughout the galaxy by Imperial and New Republic Navies. The main element used in synthesizing duraplast was carbon.

Dura is a romance root meaning 'hard, enduring' (cf. English 'durable'). -plast is an element of Greek etymology that refers to manipulability and malleability of a substance (cf. 'Plastic'). The above hints that duraplast was not particularly easy to shape and form while forging.
