Biography
Edit
It was in service of Jabba the Hutt when C-3PO and R2-D2 came to Jabba's Palace in 4 ABY. It squealed in pain as 8D8, under the command of its supervisor droid EV-9D9, lowered a hot glowing iron on the soles of its feet. Steam shot out from within the power droid, likely a defense mechanism to prevent potential damage to its plating.
Behind the scenes
Edit
This unnamed character was known as the "Dustbin Droid" during the production of Return of the Jedi.
Although no specific details are given about the droid's background, it is assumed that it was working, obviously unsuccessfully, as a server on Jabba's Sail Barge, since, when EV-9D9 assigns R2-D2 to the position, she points to the tortured GNK droid and states, "I think you'll fill in nicely."
In Star Wars: Battlefront II, in the Jabba's Palace level, the droid can be heard screaming.
