Duumas was a male Jedi Master who served the Jedi Order around the time of the Ruusan Reformation. Circa 1002 BBY, Duumas foretold the coming of the powerful child Caeleb sacrificed himself on the planet Dalicron-4 to create a spot devoid of the Force for the boy to live at.

Biography[]

Duumas was a Force-sensitive male individual who served the Jedi Order[2] around the time of the Ruusan Reformation[1] and attained the rank of Jedi Master.[2] Around 1002 BBY,[1] Duumas uncovered a prophecy foretelling the coming of a "Child of Light," a being with access to unlimited power in the Force. Following this revelation, Duumas sacrificed himself on the sparsely-populated planet Dalicron-4 in Outer Rim Territories, merging his spirit into a large and unusually-colored tree sited on a raised knoll to create a fifty-meter radius protective bubble surrounding the tree that was devoid of the Force.[2]

Nearly one thousand years later,[2] circa 2 BBY,[1] the Human male Caeleb, the child heralded by Duumas, was born. Though unaware of the Jedi Master, Caeleb's father experienced a vision of Duumas' tree and Caeleb's parents settled in a homestead next to the tree with their son, the Force bubble created by Duumas shielding Caeleb from his Force power as the boy grew up.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Jedi Master Duumas was mentioned in Child of Light, a roleplaying adventure written by Lee Pickler and set within Star Wars Legends continuity that was published by RPGA in 2000 as the opening instalment of the Child of Light saga roleplaying trilogy. The adventure does not specify Duumas' species.[2]

Notes and references[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 As Child of Light is set four months after the Battle of Hoth, an event that is dated by The Essential Atlas to the sixth month of the year 3 ABY. As the Atlas states that there are twelve months in the Galactic Standard Calendar, it can therefore be inferred that Child of Light takes place in the tenth month of 3 ABY. Child of Light states Caeleb to be around five years of age during the events depicted in the roleplaying adventure, therefore his birth can be placed in approximately 2 BBY. The adventure also states that Duumas died roughly one thousand years before the events portrayed in Child of Light, thus placing his death in around 997 BBY. The reference book The New Essential Chronology dates the Ruusan Reformation galactic reformation to 1000 BBY, thus setting Duumas' life around the time of that agreement.
