EX-1-8 was an Imperial Navy TIE/sa bomber[2] that was manufactured by Sienar Fleet Systems.[1] As a TIE/sa bomber, EX-1-8 carried a destructive payload consisting of proton torpedoes, guided concussion missiles, space mines, and free-falling thermal detonators.[2] Around 3 ABY,[3] EX-1-8 flew through the Hoth asteroid field.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
EX-1-8 originated as a prop for the Imperial TIE/sa bomber, which made its cinematic debut in the 1980 original trilogy film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.[4] An image of the prop was used in 2003 on a card for the Empire Strikes Back expansion set of the Star Wars Trading Card Game, coining the name EX-1-8 and establishing the individual TIE/sa bomber's existence in the Star Wars Legends continuity.[2]
