The edge of a bladed weapon could often be upgraded or improved to increase its lethality. Certain swords or vibroblades could be fitted with an improved edge which would be fitted to the tip of the weapon, the sharpest point. These edges could increase the damage dealt by the weapon or provide other bonuses such as ion damage.

Edges such as Mullinine and Neutronium could improve the hacking power of a weapon as they were so sharp and Ionite Edges would allow bonus Ion damage as they were charged with Ion energy. Some, like Devaronian edges, could help critical hits come more easily. The highest quality, sharpest edges were "Superior edges" while the standard blunter ones were called "Mild Edges."
