Elaine Baker was the wife of make up designer Rick Baker and, using prosthetics designed by her husband, originally portrayed Emperor Palpatine for scenes in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. She was later replaced by Ian McDiarmid in the 2004 re-release.
