The elix were rare predatory birds that hunted in flocks. During the Imperial era, their homeworld was threatened by a supernova explosion. In order to preserve the species, a population was established on the Imperial Species Preservation Zone planet of Dar'Or. There, the elix were even deadlier predators, as their new homeworld had a much lower gravity than their old world had. The elix preyed on the native sentients, the Ri'Dars.

Elix also attracted smugglers to Dar'Or, since their meat was prized by gourmets.
