Embra was a compassionate Hutt who could often be found at Jabba's Palace on Tatooine, with fellow Hutts Jabba and Malta. He was known for wearing a nose ring through both nostrils. Embra based his operations on the jungle planet Mazhar.

Because of his kinder disposition that was not often seen in Hutts, he had a strong loyalty amongst his subjects. At some point before the Battle of Yavin, Embra, along with Jabba and Malta, organized a hunt for the Yavin Vassilika.
During the Yuuzhan Vong War, after narrowly escaping a death sentence by the invaders, Embra led a resistance group against the Yuuzhan Vong known as the Sisar Runners. Near the end of the war, he aided the Galactic Alliance.
