The Emperor's Shadow was Emperor Palpatine's private shuttle, once piloted by Jeng Droga. It crash-landed into the planet Kaal's seas after the death of the Emperor. It was believed to had possessed an advanced cloaking device shield and thus attracted the attention of the New Republic who intended to examine the technology. The Galactic Museum's Artifact Recovery Office was willing to fund an undercover expedition to Kaal in order to retrieve the shuttle.
