Empress-class space station
From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.
The Empress-class space station was an orbital facility designed to carry starfighters and provide docking space for small freighters. Its standard armament was ten turbolaser batteries and six laser cannons, and it had hangar space for up to three starfighter squadrons.

[edit] History
[edit] Construction
The Empress-class space station Yag-prime, orbiting the Givin homeworld Yag'Dhul, was originally built by the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War. The internal corridors were strikingly small, designed to make it easier to defend against a stormtrooper assault, but it is not known if this feature was common to all Empress-class stations, or if the design was also constructed by groups outside the Rebellion.
Yag-prime played a prominent role in the Bacta War. The station was operated by Warlord Zsinj until it was seized by the New Republic in the Battle of Yag'Dhul and later reported destroyed by Pash Cracken. Yag-prime actually remained intact, and Rogue Squadron used it as their base of operations during the Bacta War, with Booster Terrik in command of the station.
[edit] Defying Lusankya
During the course of the Bacta War, Booster Terrik had purchased many Proton Torpedos, Concussion Missiles and Targeting Sensors from Talon Karrde. The Sensors were fitted into the Station. The Torpedoes and Missiles fitted into a series of freighters ranging in size and including a Corellian Light Freighter. When Lusankya and its escorting Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Virulence entered the system, Wedge Antillies force of fighters, freighters and the Thranta-class War Cruiser Valiant hyperspaced out of the system. The Lusankya moved in towards the space station, at which point Terrik activated the Gravity Well Projector that had also been purchased from Karrde.
Following this he targeted the heavily modified tractor beams onto the Lusankya, pinning it in place despite its attempts to break free by setting the engines to full reverse. Offering its captain Joak Drysso the chance to surrender, Terrik then activated the torpedo targeting sensors, gaining over three-hundred locks upon Lusankya. At this point the Virulence moved into the line of the tractor beams, causing Lusankya to shoot backwards in reverse and be able to exit the system, abandoning its TIE Fighter escort which were then destroyed when Pash Cracken and his Squadron of A-Wing Fighters entered the system.
[edit] Yuuzhan Vong War
The station was later ceded to the Givin after the Bastion Accords, and was used by them to defend their shipyards during the Yuuzhan Vong War.
[edit] Behind the scenes
The cover illustration of The Krytos Trap indicates that the Empress-class space station bears a strong resemblance to the XQ2 and XQ5 Platforms, though it appears significantly larger.
