Enhancement jewels were spherical jewels that were used in conjunction with a focusing lens. They were often used in high resolution projection systems. The Wookiee Jedi Lowbacca used such a jewel as a lightsaber crystal in his lightsaber. He scavenged it from components left by Rebel technicians in the Great Temple on Yavin IV.
