The evacuation of the planet Ossus took place at some point before the construction of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. The Jedi managed to save a few of the holobooks and artifacts from the Great Jedi Library of Ossus which made it to the Jedi Archives on the planet Coruscant.[1]
In the legendary Qel-Droma Epics, Ossus was devastated during the Cron Supernova, when the Sith Lord Naga Sadow triggered stars in the Cron Cluster to become supernovae. The Jedi had little warning of the coming cataclysm and prioritized the artifacts from the Chamber of Antiquities. Despite the efforts, they only managed to save a fraction of the artifacts housed on the planet which made it to the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant via nearby Exis Station, and the Great Library was left in ruins. Several crates of ancient scrolls, books, and electronic storage media that never made it to an evacuation ship were left behind in the Chamber of Antiquities.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The evacuation was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in the 2016 Star Wars Roleplaying sourcebook Nexus of Power.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Battle of Ossus first appeared in the first issue of the Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi — The Sith War comic book series, written by Kevin J. Anderson, illustrated by Dario Carrasco, Jr., and published by Dark Horse Comics[3] on August 15, 1995.[4]
