Production
Edit
The music for the LP was composed by Peter Bernstein. The album was only ever officially released on LP, on December 8, 1986. Only about half an hour of music from the two films was presented due to LP capacity limitations.
Music composed by Peter Bernstein for Caravan of Courage was conducted by Harry Rabinowitz. For The Battle for Endor Peter Bernstein both composed and conducted the score.
Peter Bernstein also adapted "Parade of the Ewoks" from John Williams' original Return of the Jedi soundtrack. The piece is used as Wicket's theme in both Caravan Of Courage and The Battle For Endor.
Jeff Moss wrote the song "My Star" sung by Cindel Towani in The Battle For Endor. This song was not on the official album and remains unreleased.
Another Ewoks record, associated with the Ewoks cartoon series, was released in France by AB Productions.

Bootleg
Edit

The LP was later bootlegged onto CD by a group in Singapore in 1999 and retitled Star Wars Ewoks. The bootleg has a number of errors including an incorrect track arrangement, incorrect track names and incorrect track times. For example, track 1, "The Trek," has had the "20th Century Fox Fanfare" tacked onto its start (from the official release), extending it a further 29 seconds.
A FLAC audio recording of the 14 official tracks from the original 12" LP was also in circulation at one stage.

The so-called "Additional Material" tracks have never officially been sanctioned by Lucasfilm Ltd. and are in fact poorly engineered tracks cobbled together from a mixture of tracks from both the Star Wars Trilogy: The Original Soundtrack Anthology and various releases of the Return of the Jedi soundtrack.
Fan and collector interest
Edit
Since going out of print, the LP has become extremely rare. The LP is very much valued by many collectors. Most fans who own the score only own it in its bootlegged form. The availability of this bootleg has prevented a number of fan petitions to have the album officially rereleased from gathering any significant momentum.[source?]
