The Azzameen Station, also known as Azzameen Home Base was the main residence of the moderately wealthy Azzameen trading family. It was the center for Azzameen family affairs, as well as the home base for their Twin Suns Transport Services interstellar trading firm. The space station was located in the Garis sector of the Outer Rim Territories.

[edit] Description

The family base was a station manufactured by VenteX Construction Yards, but was almost certainly modified in order to better meet the needs of its trader owners. At 1.4 kilometers in length, it was almost as long as an Imperial-class Star Destroyer of the Imperial Navy.

Four large docking ports dominated the two great docking arms, and one at both the summit and underside of the habitation tower, designed for smaller craft such as transports or shuttles.

A pressurized main hangar equipped with magnetic shielding was the prime location for the family craft to alight. Its open design permitted easy launch and retrieval, and a tractor beam system prevented pilot error from causing disastrous docking collisions.

[edit] History

As of 3 ABY the Azzameen Home Base had been in the family long enough for the Azzameens to have become strongly attached to it. It served as the base of operations for the family business, as well as a home. Visitors, both friends and businessmen, traveled from all over the galaxy to enjoy the Azzameens' hospitality, and maybe strike a deal or two.

The station itself was located at the lagrange point between a large gas giant, and its small, rocky, highly volcanic moon. Spaceships arriving or leaving were treated to magnificent views of the Azzameen's home spectacularly silhouetted against these heavenly bodies.

The Azzameen family transport, the Otana, was a common sight in the main hangar, and Antan Azzameen's modified action transport, the Big Score, was often to be seen docked at one of the station's docking ports.

It was from this station that Ace Azzameen embarked upon his illustrious piloting career, at first as a lowly YT-1300 pilot, hauling goods to Harlequin Station.

The Sabra and Otana flee the base.

During the Galactic Civil War, Azzameen sympathies lay largely with the Rebel Alliance, although Antan Azzameen cautioned his brother to keep business and political beliefs separate. However, shortly after the Battle of Hoth the Azzameens were caught up in an Imperial ambush of a Rebel hospital. The Star Destroyer Corrupter, commanded by Garreth Holtz led a small task force that decimated the Rebel forces, and left Tomaas and Galin missing, presumed dead.

Fleeing back to the Azzameen home, the surviving Azzameens realized that they would have to abandon their home, and become fugitives from Imperial "justice". After retrieving supplies and evading an Imperial attack at Twin Sun Station, the Azzameens were horrified to find Uncle Antan absent from their rendezvous, and their own ships followed by Viraxo marauders. Realizing that the time had come, the family fled into hyperspace just as the Corrupter emerged and demanded their surrender. Emon had the last word when in response he cried: "Not today, bootlicker!"

A squad of spacetroopers enters the booby-trapped hangar.

The Azzameens were absent when the Corrupter launched a Space trooper attack to seize the station. Nevertheless, they left a parting gift of a booby-trapped cargo container that killed several of the raiding troops.

Months later, after the Azzameens had almost given up all hope of seeing their beloved home once more, they were shocked to discover that, renamed the Falcon's Nest, it had now become a base for a marauding group of mercenaries and was defended by squadrons of Preybird-class starfighters and Authority IRDs. Not long afterwards, the Rebel Alliance launched a raid on the station and captured it. In the skirmish Big Score was inexplicably seen by the siblings leaving the station.

After destroying the cruisers Plague and Redhawk, the station was disabled and then put back in the Azzameen family's hands.
