"You are preparing a course for Fendrilon Koozar, yes?…You will ensure he is given the 'house special.'"
―Guri, Black Sun lieutenant[src]

Fendrilon Koozar, a Human male, was one of Emperor Palpatine's Advisors during the Galactic Civil War. Koozar, who had a habit of sticking his nose where it was not welcome, often dined at the exclusive Manarai restaurant in Imperial City on Coruscant.

In 3.5 ABY, Prince Xizor of the Black Sun crime syndicate arranged Koozar's murder for interfering with his affairs. The Manarai's head chef, Tavvar Va'ran, introduced several untraceable chemicals into Koozar's preordered meal, which later prompted Koozar to throw a hallucinatory fit at his droid pilot while aboard his luxury airspeeder. Koozar seized control of the craft from the droid and crashed the speeder into a governmental building in a fiery explosion, killing himself.

BiographyEdit

"Do you have any particular preparation instructions you would like me to follow?"
"I am looking for something discreet, as always."
―Master Chef Tavvar Va'ran and Guri[src]

Fendrilon Koozar was one of the Advisors to Emperor Palpatine during the time period of the Galactic Civil War immediately following the Battle of Hoth, in 3.5 ABY. Koozar had developed an alarming habit of sticking his nose into business where he was not welcomed,[1] including the operations of Prince Xizor's Black Sun crime syndicate.[2] Koozar regularly enjoyed the high-cultured cuisine and atmosphere of the Manarai restaurant,[1] the most exclusive dining venue in Coruscant's Imperial City.[3]

Xizor planned to eliminate Koozar[3] during one of Koozar's nights out at the Manarai by poisoning his exquisitely-prepared preordered meal—a raw Wroonian flycatcher filet followed by a bowl of sufar greens topped with mecolar briddlings and drezzle sauce for an appetizer, and fleek-eel broiled in zaffa oil for the main course, though Koozar had not yet ordered dessert. In doing so, Xizor dispatched his personal lieutenant, Guri, to the Manarai to ensure that the restaurant's master chef, the Kubaz Tavvar Va'ran, prepared the poisoned course accordingly. Guri ordered Va'ran to give Koozar the "house special," meaning adding a combination of natural food seasonings and nearly untraceable chemicals to Koozar's dishes throughout the course of the meal, which would work in conjunction with the natural oils and spices found within the food itself as well as Koozar's own digestive system to cause certain unpleasant effects—often including painful death—several hours after ingestion.[1]

When Va'ran inquired whether Guri requested that he prepare the poisoned meal a certain way, Guri only stipulated that he do it discreetly, suggesting something that would perhaps induce hallucination, causing Koozar to step out of his moving airspeeder or jump off his tower balcony. Va'ran added a dose of tasteless thetametabuterin to Koozar's flycatcher filet, a hybrid mold on the greens briddlings, and some collafa spice in the zaffa oil.[1]

The evening after Koozar's visit to the Manarai, Va'ran saw on the newsnets that Koozar had thrown an uncontrollable fit while in his luxury airspeeder, wresting away the controls from his droid pilot, and crashing the speeder into the Ministry of Land Management. Fendrilon Koozar died in the fiery explosion that followed.[1]

Personality and traitsEdit

The Human Fendrilon Koozar, a connoisseur of fine foods,[2] often treated himself to the high-taste splendors of the Manarai,[1] Coruscant's most exclusive restaurant and the central gathering place for the Imperial Center elite.[3] As one of the Emperor's Advisors, Koozar had a habit of meddling in affairs where he was unwelcome, which eventually led to his murder, as orchestrated by Prince Xizor. Guri, a Human replica droid fully trained in proper social etiquette and culture, nevertheless displayed a distaste for the exquisite meal she learned Koozar was treating himself to during the night of his murder.[1]

Behind the scenesEdit

Fendrilon Koozar was first mentioned in the short narrative A Very Special Meal as part of the June 1996 West End Games Shadows of the Empire Sourcebook, written by Peter Schweighofer. Koozar never actually appears in the narrative and is only mentioned second-hand.[1] The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, released in 2008, later provided an individual character entry for Koozar.[2]

Shadows of the Empire Sourcebook explains that several influential members, including an Imperial Advisor, were rumored to have a stake in the Manarai's ownership, although the identity of this individual is not revealed in the text. Considering the proximity of this description to the narrative detailing Koozar's death in the sourcebook, it is likely this mention is intended to be Koozar himself.[1]
