A fighter group was a unit made up of three squadrons of starfighters that served within the Imperial Navy during the Galactic Civil War. As opposed to fighter wings, these units typically did not consist of the entire compliment of TIE-series craft that were carried aboard Imperial-class Star Destroyers. The 181st Imperial Fighter Group was perhaps the most skilled and best-known fighter group within the Fleet while it was under the command of Baron Soontir Fel.
