The B2 battle droid dispenser, also known as the super battle droid dispenser was a cylindrical droid dispenser used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars against the Galactic Republic. The device continually dispensed a supply of B2 super battle droids from four large hatches mounted at equidistant points. The device was resistant to blaster bolts, but could be destroyed using a detonation pack. Equipped with a propulsion function, the devices could be launched onto ships by Lucrehulk-class droid control ships. Delta Squad, an elite squad of clone commandos for the Republic, encountered many of these units during their various operations including the First Battle of Geonosis, Attack on the Prosecutor, and Mission to Kashyyyk. During the Attack on the Prosecutor acclamator-class assault ship, Trandoshan slavers working under the Confederacy took use the droid dispensers to attempt to kill Delta Squad.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
B2 battle droid dispensers appeared in the[1] 2005[2] video game Star Wars: Republic Commando, developed by LucasArts.[1] Prior to the game's release, the device was mentioned on LucasArts.com's Star Wars: Republic Commando page.[3] In the game, droid dispensers will continue deploying droids until the dispenser itself is destroyed.[1] It is likely that this is simply game mechanics.
