"Here's the location to a Smuggler by the name of Dak. I'm afraid he's way out by Mt. Chaolt..."
Ralia Reeven, to a spacer[2]

Dak Vox was a male Kajain'sa'Nikto smuggler who lived on Lok at the time of the Galactic Civil War.

Biography[]

"There's a great need for liquid filtration supplies throughout the galaxy and the Empire has been trying to corner the market. Fortunately, this volcano produces excellent deposits of one type of coagulant."
―Dak Vox, to a spacer[1]

After the Battle of Yavin, Dak Vox had set up camp on the volcano Mount Chaolt, on the planet Lok. There, the smuggler collected chemicals generated by the volcano in order to produce valuable cationic chemical coagulant that could be sold on the black market.[1]

In 1 ABY,[3] a spacer working for the warlord Nym and his Lok Revenants traveled from the city known as Nym's Stronghold to Mount Chaolt in order to obtain cationic chemical coagulant from Dak Vox. The chemicals were requested by the water treatment technician Phor Cl-lan in order to repair the water treatment facility of the city. The spacer was sent to the volcano by Ralia Reeven, Nym's quartermaster, who was aware of Vox's business. As he owed Nym a favor, the smuggler could not refuse to provide chemicals. However, he asked the spacer to help him collect raw chemicals in exchange for the cationic chemical coagulant. The adventurer accepted the trade and then gathered chemicals on the slopes of the volcano.[1] The spacer eventually returned to Nym's Stronghold with the cationic chemical coagulant that was used to resupply the mixing chamber of the water filtration system.[4]

  3. According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
