The droid machine interface was a type of droid component that was used to determine the extent and nature of problems with technological items. It could interface with most standard technology and produce detailed technical information, which could then be used by a droid to aid in repairs. The interface was fairly common during the Dark Wars, a series of conflicts between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire.

Description[]

The droid machine interface was a gray-colored droid component that could be installed on some more advanced droid models. It was built to interface with the majority of standard technological equipment, including droids and machinery. When installed on a droid, the interface was useful for providing thorough analyses for complex technological problems, which could then be used by the droid to improve the quality of any necessary repairs.[1]

History[]

During the Dark Wars,[2] a series of conflicts between the Galactic Republic and the remnants of the Sith Empire, the droid machine interface was a droid component that was fairly common.[1] In the year 3951 BBY,[2] the interface was available for sale by merchants for prices of around three hundred credits.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The droid machine interface first appeared in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, a 2004 video game produced by Obsidian Entertainment. The interface was a class 2 droid upgrade in the game, which meant that droids of level seven or higher could have it equipped. The interface provided droids with a moderate increase to their repair skill and could be found in random locations throughout the game, as well as for sale at merchants. However, the player was not guaranteed to find the item every time through the game.[1]
