- "Trick or treat!"
- ―A popular saying during the Galactic Moon Festival
The Galactic Moon Festival was an event celebrated at Mos Eisley and Moenia during the Galactic Civil War.
History[]
- "All the citizens of Mos Eisley and Moenia gladly agreed to participate in the Galactic Moon Festival, when Jabba asked them. With a townsperson targeted, say 'Trick or Treat'. If they like your costume they will give you Galactic Moon Coins. If not, use your Trick or Treat device and scare them!"
- ―Z'ozpheratu, to a spacer
The Galactic Moon Festival was created by Jabba the Hutt to gain more support from Tatooine and Naboo. He grew tired of festivals of love and life, so he aimed to create the scariest event of the year. He sent Aponte to advertise the event, while Z'ozpheratu was tasked with handing out costume holo-projectors in both cities.[3]
These holo-projectors would allow spacers to "dress up" in a number of scary costumes, including Droidekas, Toydarians, and Hutts. These celebrants would attempt to scare others with their costumes, by exclaiming, "Trick or treat!" If they were genuinely scared or impressed by the costume, the participants would be given Galactic Moon Coins. These coins could be given to Z'ozpheratu in exchange for certain prizes.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
This Galactic Moon Festival was first introduced to Star Wars Galaxies with the "Game Update 5.10," published on October 14, 2008, in order to coincide with the real-world festival of Halloween.[4] The festival also shared similarities with Halloween.[1]

- ↑ According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
