"It's a long story. The Aphotic hurt Frelka. I'm surprised he didn't say anything. I guess he doesn't want others meddling in his affairs."
E-5KL, to a spacer[2]

Frelka was a male Rodian explorer who lived during the Galactic Civil War.

Biography[]

"Don't get interested, kid. You shouldn't go there. Bah! I guess I'll tell you anyway. Station Gamma was a research facility. Now it's run by an Overlord and his cronies. I went there to get treasure."
―Frelka, to a spacer[1]

Following the Battle of Yavin, Frelka visited the Bright Jewel system along with his protocol droid E-5KL. They resided in Tansarii Point Station, a space station that they used as a starting point to explore Station Gamma, an asteroid base nearby.[1] In 1 ABY,[3] Frelka and E-5KL flew out to Station Gamma to get treasure but they realized that the station had been taken oven by the Rak'qua, a tribe of aggressive Nautolans. While exploring, Frelka ran into a member of the Rak'qua, the pair fought and Frelka lost causing him to flee the station back to Tansarii, in his haste leaving behind E-5KL. Once back on Tansarii he headed to the cantina to sulk over his defeat.[1] Frelka later met a spacer here who he asked to head back to Station Gamma and find his droid for him.[4] The spacer then traveled to Station Gamma where E-5KL told him of Frelka's defeat and asked that the spacer kill the Rak'qua Aphotic who humiliated Frelka. The spacer did so and returned to Frelka to inform him of his foe's death and the safety of his droid. Frelka begrudgingly thanked the spacer despite wanting to have kept his defeat a secret.[2]

Personality and traits[]

"Frelka got hurt treasure hunting?"
"He is an angry fellow, right now."
―A spacer and Inaldra's Lieutenant[5]

Frelka was unfriendly and rude after his defeat at the hands of the Rak'qua however this may not of reflected his normal personality.[1] He was also extremely ungrateful to his droid, who he claimed he might scrap, showing he thought of it as a possession not a sentient being. Frelka was presumably also rather inexperienced in combat as the Rak'qua who defeated him was easily slain by an almost untrained spacer.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Frelka was a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[6] Frelka was added to the game as part of the "New Player Tutorial," introduced with the release of the "Publish 25," a.k.a. the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.[7] He gave the player a single optional side quest.[4]

  3. According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
