A gargoyle was a mythical creature that was shaped like a bat with huge wings. On Mortis, it symbolized the dark side of the Force. The Son could transform himself into a gargoyle at will.
Many planets included statuary gargoyles in their architecture, including Coruscant, Ruusan and Nal Hutta.
