Lantern birds were a species of bird native to the moon of Endor. They were hunted by the aggressive, sentient Dulok species, who were also native to the moon.[1]

Lantern birds first appeared in The Adventures of Teebo: A Tale of Magic and Suspense, a Star Wars Legends novel written by Joe Johnston and released in 1984. They were confirmed to be canon in the reference book Ultimate Star Wars, which was released in 2015.[source?]
