Incense was any substance that was used to produce a fragrant and pleasant odor when it was burned. Certain types of incense favored meditation, which is why the Jedi and Sith alike sometimes used them. Species as diverse as the Wookiees, Yuuzhan Vong, Sullustans, and Mon Calamari all used incense. To the olfactory system of Humans, Gran incense smelled like burning thicklube.

Incense was burnt by shopkeepers and residents of Barons Hed on Sulon in order to cover the odor of urine and vomit permeating the alleys of the Low Town.
